Imagine being on a road trip and not knowing where your next exit is. What do you do but pull out the old gps device or your phone and load up google maps. The technology behind all of this started with Dr. Gladys West. Dr. West, known as Gladys Mae West, was an American mathematician who played an integral role in the development of the Global Positioning System we now know as GPS. She is also the only black woman to be inducted into the Air Force Missile and Space Pioneers Hall of Fame.
